Getting a Licence
| How
to get and types of licences |
At a "special exhibition licenced station" i.e. GB2LC anyone can talk over the radio, provided the radio is under the direct control of a licenced radio amateur. In order to establish a contact and control the equipment you need to hold an amateur licence.
The team ran a two day foundation radio license course last September. A number of Chelford and Goostery scout obtained their licence. If there is demand the team can run another.
Successful candidates will get a call sign and be able to use amateur radio to talk to other amateurs and of cause operate GB2LC.
This opens up the possibility, if several members of a group gain a licence of using portable amateur radio gear on hikes etc. The range of amateur gear over PMR446 radios is much greater.
There are several groups in the area who already have leaders who are radio amateurs 88th Manchester , 1st Chelford and123rd Manchester are just three. If you want more information relating to the pros and cons, why not get in touch with them.
Or visit the Radio
