Radio Orienteering
We used new kit this year which enabled us to hunt for two transmitters, The transmitters keyed for one minute alternately. The scouts found it much easier to use as only volume had to be adjusted (there were no S meters or attenuators). All but one team found them both in the allocated time.
An Event record of 4 minutes was set by the Didsbury Viking Explorer unit. They had their go straight after lunch when the transmitters had been relocated, so there was no cheating. But as they were helping to run the radio orienteering we thought it best not to let them be the winners.
The winning team was "My Disciples" from 1st Norbury in 10 minutes
Runners up were "Nonames" from Alderly District in 14 minutes
21 teams took part.
Radio Sation (JOTA)
We operated four radio station over the week end.
They made 256 contacts in 24 countries.
Of these 31 were with UK scout stations and 10 with scout stations over seas.
Electronic construction
117 units of this years project were constructed.
A further 8 morse units were made by those taking their electronics badge.
The electronic construction projects couldn't take place without the generosity of our sponsors:
